Glossary:Quality assurance
From CAF Network
Quality assurance is focused on the core processes in order to guarantee the quality of a product or service. Quality assurance includes quality control. This concept, born in the 1950s and largely used in the 1980s and 1990s through the ISO 9000 norms, is no longer used. It has been replaced by the concept of total quality management.
ISO (International Organisation for Standardization) is a global network that identifies what international standards are required by business, government and society, develops them in partnership with the sectors that will put them to use, adopts them by transparent procedures based on national input and delivers them to be implemented worldwide. ISO standards specify the requirements for state-of-the-art products, services, processes, materials and systems, and for good conformity assessment, managerial and organisational practice.
